Q: What is the difference between a B&B ‘Mountain Escape Room’ and a Luxury Cottage?
A: There is a huge difference in these two very distinct products.
A luxury cottage is a self contained purpose built cabin/pavilion/lodge – call it what you like – that is away from our main house in our gardens accessed by a separate path. This is THE number one couples retreat product on the mountain and contains the main couples getaway ingredients of:
o Huge spa bath
o King Size Bed
o Log burner/fire
o Spacious comfort and all the accompaniments
A ‘Mountain Escape room’ is a queen bedded room with en-suite in a separate guest wing that runs off to the side of our single storey farmhouse. We have three adjoining guest rooms all opening out onto a large deck. These rooms are particularly suitable for guests wanting a quick break, happy to be in rooms adjoining others and in many cases not wanting any breakfast as part of the package. This option includes:
o Queen beds
o Shower, WHB, WC en-suite
o Separate guest lounge for our six B&B guests
Q: So what is a B&B
A: This is a very good question – B&B's originated in the UK when people had a spare bedroom and sought to gain some extra money from its daily rental, providing breakfast as part of the price to travellers. In Australia there are many B&B’s where you will sleep in the owner’s house and often in the room next door to the owner and share bathroom facilities with the owner or other guests.
NOT SO AT CAMELOT. We are a purpose built B&B with our three adjoining en-suited rooms in a separate guest wing sharing a guest lounge. Guests have their own entrance and their own keys. All purpose built about 10 years ago. If you want breakfast – it is available at many places locally and we have reduced our prices accordingly. Either way - You will love your stay!
Q: So your B&B is similar to a motel – yes?
A: Not so – we pride ourselves on our personal service to our guests including discussion about and directions to mountain attractions, best and budget dining on the mountain and generally we ensure your mountain experience is a good one. On rare occassions for groups, we may personally serve you breakfast if included and offer the odd glass of gluhwein on cold winter nights in front of a log fire. We enjoy general discussions and often will sit down with you for a glass of wine – but only if it is appropriate. MANY, MANY, MANY of our guests arrive as guests and leave as friends!
Unfortunately you may find that once you have experienced Camelot’s hospitality, you will become disappointed with other similar products on the mountain and elsewhere.
Q: Is Camelot suitable for families?
A: Camelot has been designed for couples and small adult groups. All guests must be 14+ and we expect discrete parental control at all times. Younger children may be accepted if a booking is made for the entire property.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: Sorry, no pets are allowed at Camelot but you are welcome to play with our Kangaroos, Bandicoots, Butcher birds, Lorikeets, Satin Bower Bird and anything else you find in our garden
Q: Is Camelot Wheelchair friendly?
A: We have the only wheelchair compliant cottage on the Mountain and have been recognised and listed by the Spinal Injuries Association. Our St Bernard Cottage has a compliant ramp, open bathroom with shower seat and a small rearrangement of furniture gives full wheelchair accessibility. Please enquire at the time of booking for availability and to discuss any special needs.
Q: Is there a secure car park facility?
A: Camelot provides an open car park with room for 6 vehicles. If you require a second car park space please notify us in advance.
Q: Is there a restaurant at Camelot?
A: All our cottages have full kitchen facilities with the exception of an oven. Camelot DOES have a full kitchen to provide a breakfast service to guests who make a group booking for the entire property and wish to include it in their package.
Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: In accordance with Australian regulations, smoking is not permitted within 4 metres of any building. We have two acres of grounds for you to smoke and ash trays are provided. Your registration form at check in draws your attention to extra cleaning costs for guests who smoke inside their room or cottage.
Q: Are there private garden areas?
A: We have two acres of parklike grounds, orchards and areas laid open to lawns. Our cottages are separated from each other and fairly sound proof to assist privacy.
Q: Are there barbecue facilities?
A: All cottages have deck furniture and BBQ’s are available on request for cottage guests only for alfresco dining
Q: Is the beach accessible? How far away is it?
A: The Gold Coast beaches and Surfers Paradise are about 35 minutes drive from Camelot.
Q: Which languages are spoken at the reception?
A: English
Q: Does Camelot accept credit cards?
A: Payments can be made securely online at the time of booking or at reception by cash, eftpos or credit (we accept VISA and Mastercard)
NB: VISITORS AND THIRD PARTIES
Q: Can we invite our friends to come and see us while we stay at Camelot
A: Sorry, but we have to respect and preserve the privacy of ALL our guests staying at Camelot at ALL times and hence we simply say NO VISITORS ALLOWED. We also have a maximum number of guests licence and strict insurance requirements.
Q: I want to bring my bridal party to Camelot and have outside hairdressers and beauticians for myself and bridesmaids. Can we arrange this in advance?
A: As noted above we do NOT allow visitors at any time with one major exception - if you take over Camelot, as an entire property with your party i.e 6 rooms, we are happy to discuss your requirements for wedding, function or party arrangements as no other guests can be inconvenienced. Please call us to discuss your detailed arrangements.
Q: Am I allowed to order an on-site masseur to come to my room?
A: One would have thought that common courtesy would dictate a guest advising the hosts of this requirement. However, licence and insurance requirements are very strict and your registration form, that you sign on check-in, draws your attention to the fact that visitors will NOT be allowed on the premises without the express prior permission of the property hosts. These matters are in your own interests to ensure your privacy, peace, security and safety!
